The summer sun has been shining and so have our incredible supporters!
From pedal power to pub gigs, from blooming sunflowers to beetle drives – August has been packed with generosity, creativity, and plenty of fun.
Here’s just a snapshot of the amazing things you’ve all been up to this month.
Garden gigs
Volunteer Bob dusted off his best cheque-collecting smile when he headed to the Plough Inn in Ellington.
Their garden gig event brought the community together for a day of music and good vibes – it raised an impressive £1,000 for our service.
Huge thanks to everyone who joined in the fun and helped to chip in to this impressive sum.
The best kind of surprise
Upper Eden Rotary Club popped by for an airbase visit, we were thrilled to welcome them.
After hearing from our interim CEO Joe Garcia MBE, and fundraiser Mieke, they surprised us with a £500 donation, with promises of more support to come!
We can’t wait to see what they do next for us.
Ride4Hugo passes through
Thomas Yaxley arrived at our base mid-way through his Ride4Hugo challenge – cycling between all 21 air ambulance charities!
Thomas is riding in memory of his brother Hugo and aunt, and his determination has blown us away.
He even camped in a museum doorway in Hawes the night before reaching us. After some refuelling at Hangar 63 and a meet with our crew, he was off again to Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s base.
Barn bash
Ian and Lynn Tate stopped by with news of their barn event in June, and wow, what a result…
Between live music, food, and an auction, they raised an incredible £9,033, bringing their fundraising total over four years to a jaw-dropping £31,666.15!
Even better, they’ve named us their Charity of the Year for 2026.
Huge thanks to everyone involved, and to our crew (pilot Phil, Dr Laura and paramedic Ian) who made the day extra special.
Beetle drive
Over at Abbey Church Hall, the ever-popular Beetle Drive brought in a fantastic £400 for GNAAS.
A huge thank you to everyone who rolled the dice and helped support us.
In bloom
The gorgeous displays at Bride Sunflowers opened to the public once again this year, with fields of golden blooms attracting visitors far and wide.
Thanks to the team, and the support of all who visited, £1,000 has been donated to us.
Blooming amazing!
Cheers to the pALEgrimage!
Kegs, walking boots, and plenty of giggles – the pALEgrimage groups have been on the move again, carrying beer barrels from breweries and pubs across our region to The Golden Smog in Stockton.
They’re hoping to beat last year’s whopping £21,000 raised, and thanks to the buzz on social media, that target is in sight.
Huge thanks to everyone who took part, especially to organisers Dave Mockler and John Christie.
Make a wish
On 17 August, Ambleside’s Market Cross unveiled a newly revamped wishing well, thanks to Ambleside Kirkstone Rotary Club.
Not only does it look incredible, but all proceeds will now go to us!
The timing was poignant too, as our Pride of Cumbria II helicopter had landed nearby twice earlier that day.
Locals stopped to thank us for the work we do, and many came over after the ceremony to throw a coin or two into the well. A beautiful community moment.
From gigs and games to gardens and great feats of endurance, every single fundraiser makes a difference to the lives we can save.
We are so grateful to each and every one of you for being part of our story.
We wonder what September will bring…
